We spent the first part of New Years Eve in Orem with a family in our ward, the Hutchings. Kevin and Amanda have three little girls - Abbey, Mariah and Cali. We have babysat them before, and had a blast. We had nachos and homemade salsa for dinner, and then had snacks while we played games - Polly Pocket, Guess Who, Pirates Dice, and Sequence. The food was good, the games were fun, and the girls were adorable, as always.

Around 10:30 we had to head over to the church to chaperone the Multi-Stake Youth Dance. Oh man, it was like old times! But not. Things haven't changed much. They still play Enrique's "Hero." There are still the typical boys sitting in the corner with their head down, practically screaming "My mom made me come here!" And of course, the mother (who was chaperoning as well) telling her son that she would prefer if he (meaning he had to) stayed at the dance instead of going with a group of friends to a girl's house to play games. Poor kid.
Probably my favorite part of the night was reading the new year's resolutions that the kids had written and posted on a wall of the gym. They were hilarious! Things like "Flirt more", or "Declare my undying love for Megan", or "Remember to feed my dog."
We danced a bit, Jonathan said hi to some kids he knew (mostly his friends younger siblings), kissed at midnight, and that was about it!
The next day, we slept in, did some homework, and then Katie and Louis came over for dinner (they brought curry - mmm mmm) and we talked and played games. It was so fun hanging out with them, as always!
All in all, it was a nice way to bring in the new year!
