Erin

Today is Erin's 22 birthday. And in honor of her birthday, I decided to write a tribute to her...

This is Erin. I met her my junior year of high school. I was at Centennial High. Erin had just moved to Boise from California. She went to Eagle High. And she hated it. We were in the same stake, and I had heard about her from my mother who knew someone who knew her. I decided to introduce myself. We ended up being on the same stake yw council, so that made it easy. :) When I first met her, I thought that there was no way we would be friends - she was too pretty! Seriously, Erin is one of the most gorgeous people I have ever met. She is just naturally beautiful and radiant. And she is so much fun.

For example - last Halloween she and her sister, Krista, dressed up as Mario and Luigi and drove around a "kart". It was pretty much the greatest thing ever. So creative. So funny. So Erin.

Erin is not afraid to do anything. Unless it involves sharks. And even then - she'll try it. She went to New Zealand on Study Abroad and went bungee jumping, hiking (or should I say tramping?), camping, rock climbing, rafting, kayaking, scuba diving, mountain biking, surfing, and who knows what else. She is brave. And adventurous.

Erin is dedicated. In high school, she was one of the best cross country runners in the state of California. If that doesn't shout dedication, I don't know what does. While she was in school at Bon Lossee, Erin worked incredibly hard to learn and master her skills. She would stay late, take extra clients - do whatever she thought would help. After graduation, she landed a job with a great, nationally recognized salon in Nampa. Naturally, her employers and clients love her. She is awesome at what she does. I should know - she's done my hair many times. She will definitely be successful in her career, come what may.

Erin is a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, etc. She cares a lot about her family and loves to be around them. And who wouldn't??? They are great. Erin would do anything for them. It's amazing to see how well they take care of each other and how much fun they have together.

Most importantly (to me, at least), Erin is the best friend anyone could ask for. She is always the first one to say, "How are you doing?", "What can I do for you?", or to just give you a hug. I honestly don't know what I would do without her. She is my soundboard. She understands what I mean, even if I don't know how to explain it. I think when we first met, neither of us realized how much we really needed the other, and what our friendship would mean down the road. I am so glad I can claim Erin as one of my best friends.

If you don't know Erin, get to know her. You will love her. And she will love you. She can't help it. :)

Pocket Edward

So I just found this post, and I find it hilarious. Actually, I find this girl's whole blog hilarious. And I wanted to share. Because it makes me laugh, even if it is ridiculous. Oh, and I'm going to Disneyland in a week and a half and that makes it even better!

Sick sick sick

I am sick. I think I have a sinus infection, although I haven't been to the doctor to confirm it. Yet. Hopefully Monday or Tuesday. I went home early from work yesterday because I was completely miserable and went through a whole box of tissues in about 3 hours. I wouldn't have gone in at all if it weren't for 2 conference calls and a company meeting. I got Mimi's Cafe take-out (delicious quiche lorraine...), went home, ate, and climbed into bed for the next few hours. Jonathan came home and we went to a swim party at our friends parents huge house...It was fun, but the water wasn't exactly warm, even in the hot tub (indoors, of course). So we didn' swim very long, but they're planning on having another party when the weather warms up. I slept well last night, but still feel pretty sick. I hate not being able to breathe through my nose. :( I did do laundry and clean, however. And someone was supposed to come look at our jeep, but no, of course he didn't show up. Story of our life. Anyway...I haven't blogged for a while so I
thought I'd write about a few things that I'm excited about:

My new swimsuit that I wore last night (the blue one)
Going to the last home BYU Men's Basketball Game of the season tonight
Daylight Savings tomorrow - more light at night!
My new calling as a counselor in the Young Women's presidency
St. Patrick's Day coming up - it'll be 2 years since Jonathan proposed (and one of my best friend's birthdays)!
Spring Break in Orange County with the Coles and going to Disneyland, the beach, boating, quoting Nacho Libre, and playing rock band with them
Piano music I bought - Pride & Prejudice (new one) and the Theme from Sabrina (also the new one)
Katie & Louie and Kimber & Nathan coming over for dinner tomorrow
Spring cleaning and organizing
Calling family using Skype
Getting over being sick

Also, for those who read this who haven't heard already, I was accepted to the S. J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. So I at least have an option for law school in Utah. I'll probably attend their Admitted Student Day in late March to kind of get a feel for what I might be getting myself into. BYU apparently sends out their notifications in mid-April, so I'm still waiting to hear from them.

On a side note, I am not excited that spring in Utah does not begin in March, due to the 30* temperature and snow that we've gotten this first week. March is for rain and wind and sunshine. I could even handle the kind of March described in Great Expectations (probably the next book I'll read): "It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade." But no. It has to be gray and cold and snowy here in Utah. Summer can't come quickly enough for me...
